Lamattina Loads a New Missile for Perth Top Fuel Round

November 29, 2011 Featured Stories No Comments

Former ANDRA Top Fuel Champion, Phil Lamattina will be taking a brand new FUCHS/Monster Energy dragster to the Perth Motorplex as the team look to build on the momentum gained at the FUCHS Australian Nationals in Sydney.

The previous chassis has been retired after 94 passes and will be replaced by a state-of-the-art McKinney Corporations chassis imported from Lafayette, Indiana.

Team Driver, Phil Lamattina explained “This is the latest and very best chassis available from McKinney and we are excited to have the opportunity to take it to Perth.

“The team has tested the chassis in Sydney and we are very, very happy with what it delivered in terms of improved performance.”

The FUCHS/Monster Energy team is looking forward to heading west knowing the Perth Motorplex is a track at which the team has always performed well.

“We still have the track record at the Motorplex at 329.67mph (530.54km/h) and as Aaron (LTFR Crew Chief) tightens up our new package, we will be looking to go faster.

“Perth has been good to us as a team, which has made the significant time and travel logistics worthwhile.

“This should be a great meeting with the country’s quickest and fastest cars all making the trip to Perth – it means the winner will have to work for it. It also means the West Australian fans will be treated to some great racing.”

Lamattina continues, “ANDRA Top Fuel is continuing to show up in good numbers for the four interstate based entries, that means a 4000km trip at a minimum and shows just how committed our racers are to the ANDRA Series.”

Aaron Hambridge, the man charged with tuning duties on the 8000hp Top Fuel missile, is also excited.

“The team has always done well in Perth and we are looking to go quicker than we have before. Top Fuel is at such a high level that we are only looking for small gains and the recent test at Sydney Dragway has given us exactly what we were looking for.”

Fuchs Lubricants has renewed their sponsorship to naming rights of the Fuchs Top Fuel Dragster. With the partnership now entering into its eighth year, both LTFR and Fuchs are excited about their long-term partnership in drag racings premier bracket.

Wayne Hoiles, Managing Director of Fuchs Lubricants explained, ”We believe that longevity is the key, which makes for the right partnership. Working with the Lamattinas for the past eight years, they have always been at the forefront for quality workmanship and professionalism, which is paramount when representing our brand. As well as the team, Rocky Lamattina & Sons (Australia’s favorite Carrots) have used over 100,000Lts of product on the farm and in their transport fleet over that time.  Our products suit agricultural applications as well as motorsport and automotive which has made the partnership very fruitful”.

“Its good to have the stability and relationship with our sponsor in today’s economic climate.  Fuchs has always been our backbone to be able to achieve our goals; we are absolutely ecstatic that they have the same vision moving forward and have signed on for the eighth consecutive year.  Our mission for this season like every other season is simple, to get the Fuchs Top Fuel Dragster in the winners circle as many times as possible”.

The Carrot Kings will be testing at Sydney Dragway August 20 & 21 at the NSW Championship Series.

The first round of the Australian Top Fuel Championship kicks off at the Fuchs Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway, September 9-11.
